2011 – SPW Inter- Regional Dialogues on Sexuality and Geopolitics

SPW promotes Inter-Regional Dialogue to discuss sexuality policy with researchers and activists from 13 countries

The Sexuality Policy Watch is hosting the Inter-Regional Dialogue on Sexuality and Politics prior to its Advisory Group regular meeting in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on September 26-29, 2011.

25 researchers and activists working on human rights, sexuality, gender, sexual and reproductive health from 12 different countries from Americas, Africa, Asia and Europe are gathering at the Copacabana Plaza hotel to build a transversal analysis of the debates occurred during the series of Regional Dialogues on Sexuality and Geopolitics, organized by SPW in 2009 and 2010 to discuss the context of the sexual politics in three main global regions: Africa (Lagos, Nigeria), Asia (Hanoi, Vietnam) and Latin America (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). In all three editions, discussions were oriented by four main themes and their intersections with sexual politics fields: political processes, economics, Science and religion.

As part of the program, SPW is promoting an open session with Hossam Bahgat, director at Egypt Initiative for People’s Rights, about the Arab Spring and its unfolding all over the global world. This session is happening on Sept. 29th, 18h30.
